Enhancing CAMHS Referrals Project 2 (EN-CAMHS 2)

NOW ACCEPTING INVITES FOR FOCUS GROUPS See ads below for more information!

What is EN-CAMHS 2?

We’re inviting you to join a research project called Enhancing CAMHS Referrals Project 2 (EN-CAMHS 2). This project aims to improve how children and young people get mental health support. We want to learn from your experiences with CAMHS referrals, both good and bad. Your feedback will help us create a digital tool to make the referral process easier and faster.

The meetings that discuss the new mental health tool will be online and about 1 hour long. They’ll talk about what features are most important (MUST haves), nice to have (SHOULD haves), and what probably won’t be included (WON’T haves). There were already meetings in early November, but you can use the form below to join our future ones.

Dates available:

20th November

21st November

9th December

10th December

Background on EN-CAMHS 2

EN-CAMHS 2: Why It Was Needed

EN-CAMHS 1 found that lots of kids were being rejected from CAMHS (the place where they get help for their mental health) and that this was causing stress for families. The people who referred kids to CAMHS, like doctors and teachers, also found it frustrating because the process was unclear, and they didn’t know where else to send kids who didn’t qualify for CAMHS. After talking to kids and families, EN-CAMHS 1 realized that a digital tool could help make the referral process easier and clearer for everyone. So, EN-CAMHS 2 was created to build this tool and try to solve the problems found in EN-CAMHS 1.

What was EN-CAMHS 1?

EN-CAMHS 1 was a research project that wanted to make it easier for kids to get help with their mental health. They found that almost 25% of kids who were referred to CAMHS, which is a special service for kids with mental health problems, didn’t get accepted. This made families sad and frustrated, especially because they often waited a long time for an answer. Doctors and teachers also found it hard to know where else to send kids who weren’t accepted by CAMHS.

To figure out how to make things better, the EN-CAMHS 1 team talked to lots of people, including kids, parents, doctors, teachers, and CAMHS workers. They also looked at referral data from different CAMHS services in England.
